Blue Ocean Tool for Notion

After reading the Blue Ocean Strategy book by Chan Kim & Renée Mauborgne, I was trying to create a tool that allows using the strategy inside of Notion.

The Blue Ocean strategy is all about creating new market space and making the competition irrelevant.

The red ocean is the market where all the competition is situated.

In red oceans, the only chance of outperforming rivals is by grabbing existing demand.

Creators act like a pack of sharks that try to hunt down ever-decreasing numbers of fish. Competition in those waters is bloody, hence the poignant name red ocean.

Your only chance as a new creator is to leave those waters behind and find a path to the blue ocean. This term stands for the unknown market space. Here, demand is created rather than fought over. It is part of the ocean with all of the unrealized potential.

One example mentioned in the book is Cirque du Soleil.

Cirque du Soleil disrupted the dying circus industry by successfully reinventing it.

“Another compelling aspect of Cirque du Soleil’s success is that it did not win by taking customers from the already shrinking circus industry, which historically catered to children. Instead it created uncontested market space that made the competition irrelevant. It appealed to a whole new group of customers: adults and corporate clients prepared to pay a price several times as great as traditional circuses for an unprecedented entertainment experience.” - Blueoceanstrategy.com

My new Blue Ocean tool for Notion will allow you to compare up to 10 different features of your business with the competition.

In the next step, the tool will show you the color of your ocean. If the majority of features differ from the competition, the sea will turn blue, if mixed, yellow, and if your features are mostly the same, your ocean will turn red.

I will add this tool to the Digital Entrepreneur Bundle. If you are interested in getting the bundle, click here and save 75%:

This is all for today. I wish you a great week!
